Introduction:

Wide angle fundus photography using Retcam II is the state of the art technique in evaluating pediatric retinal diseases and tumor conditions. The introduction of ultra wide field 200Ëš fundus imaging and fluorescein angiography for adult fundus imaging is opening the window for diagnosis and management of many peripheral retinal conditions in retinal disorders and tumor conditions.

Materials & Methods:

Prospective evaluation of pediatric and adult retinal conditions using Retcam and Optos 200 Tx ultrawide field fundus imaging and fluorescein angiography.

Results:

Wide angle fundus imaging showed an excellent correlation in establishing many posterior segment disorders with correlating peripheral retinal pathology. Furthermore, the added value of wide angle viewing is crucial in tumor diagnosis, and follow up of therapy regarding regression or tumor activity.

Conclusion:

Wide angle fundus imaging represents a new era in retinal diseases and tumor management. Adoption of the technique is essential in not only depicting many peripheral retina conditions, but also in understanding pathology of resistant macular edema and many posterior pole diseases. This offers a clear advantage over traditional imaging modalities.
