ABSTRACT

Purpose:

To evaluate the role of correlating en-face OCT findings with OCT angiography (OCTA) of the macula in improving the diagnosis of macular diseases.

Methods:

20 cases presenting with different macular diseases as chronic CSR, wet AMD, Geographic atrophy, cellophane maculopathy, drusenoid PED using Optovue OCT and analysis of the photos were done correlating the findings in the en-face OCT and OCTA to evaluate the added role of simultaneous interpretation in improving the diagnosis.

Results:

En-face OCT was superior to OCTA in diagnosis of cellophane maculopathy and in detecting the epicenter, also in the diagnosis of drusenoid PED and chronic CSR, it helped in the delineation of a silent CNV in correlation to the OCTA.

Conclusion:

The interpretation of OCTA is made easier and more accurate when correlated to good quality en-face photos, clarifying many suspicious lesions.
