Purpose:

To report the results of a technique of sutureless intrascleral fixation of a three-piece foldable hydrophobic acrylic posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC IOL) in the absence of capsular support.

Technique:

The foldable hydrophobic acrylic three-piece IOL is inserted through a conventional sub-2.8mm clear corneal incision and haptic are fixated into scleral tunnels at the limbus. This technique is suitable for cases of iris trauma and by allowing sutureless fixation of the haptics, it minimises the risk of postoperative astigmatism.

Conclusion:

The technique of sutureless-intrascleral fixation of 3-piece IOL results in good visual outcome with minimal complications in eyes with deficient capsular support.
