SYNOPSIS

This video presents BIOM, OFFISS and horizontal slit illumination used for peripheral vitrectomy. The use of three different systems of illumination and observation during vitrectomy, allows to achieve more adequate viewing. This may improve completeness of peripheral vitrectomy. New observation and illumination systems present different characteristics and if used appropriately to surgeons’ demands, improve the quality of peripheral vitrectomy. OFFISS and horizontal slit illuminator allow to perform bimanual surgery with standard instrumentation.
