Advantages:

Retinal stability during hyaloid removal, better visualization of structures, assists dissection of fibrous membranes, facilitates endolaser of stabilised retina under tamponade, limits and confines blood.

Methods:

Prospective interventional case series of 13 eyes with tractional retinal detachment using en bloc perfluorocarbon dissection technique. Videos will be shown.

Effectiveness / Safety:

100% anatomical success (retinal reattachment). The most common complication was iatrogenic break formation.

Take home message:

En bloc perfluorocarbon dissection is a useful adjunct technique to conventional dissection methods.
