Surgical Treatment of Advanced Coats Disease

Children with advanced Coats disease who had been operated for exudative retinal detachment were involved in the study. The surgical technique included external drainage of subretinal fluid supported with pars plana infusion and cryotherapy application together with anti-VEGF or triamcinolone injection. Pre and postop anatomical and functional status of the eyes will be discussed. Take home message: It is possible to preserve the crystalline lens and most of the times the vitreous resulting in very satisfactory anatomical results with this technique.
