Klaus Lucke (Bremen, Germany)

The purpose of the course is to give young surgeons with some basic experience in the use of silicone oil in complicated detachments some guidance in its use.
Once a surgeon starts using oil, experience shows that due to the rather complicated matter very quickly numerous problems and questions arise. This course is intended to serve as a forum for asking these questions and getting real life answers to take home.

Subjects covered (among others) will be:
• when to use silicone oil
• types of oil
• how to inject it
• how to optimize the tamponading effect
• how to avoid complications
• how to deal with complications
• how to remove it
• when to remove it

These subjects will be covered in an interactive format. So every participant is encouraged to come prepared with questions on his/her mind to make for a lively discussion.
