Show the importance to try to save the iris tissue and to restore the pupil, in severe ocular trauma.


Several cases of severe ocular trauma with iris rupture, iris dialysis, partial aniridia, colobomas are presented. Surgical technique with iris and pupil sutures is presented combined with transconjunctival systems and posterior iris-claw or cosmetic IOL implants.

Effectiveness / Safety:

The importance to restore the iris diaphragm and the pupil: for aesthetic reasons (young patients), to avoid glare, to separate the anterior segment from the posterior (in case of long-term intraocular tamponade).
