Advantages:

To show an original and personal way to use the 27 gauge transconjunctival Eckardt’s chandelier, using only one fiber.

Methods:

only one fiber is inserted at twelve o’clock after having done a transconjunctival tunnel with a 27 gauge needle. The fiber is inserted and the light is set between 50-60%.

Effectiveness / Safety:

By this way it is possible to obtain an absolute bright, wide and useful light in the whole vitreous chamber, allowing easily to perform bimanual techniques, avoiding to make one further little sclerotomy. No particular difficulties are observed, and the assistant can help the surgeon orientating the fiber during any particular surgical maneuvers.
