Pattern scan laser is a faster, less harmful and organized way to apply photocoagulation

We performed photocoagulation with PaScal laser in one eye and conventional laser in the fellow eye in patients with severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy and proliferative retinopathy. We measured best-corrected visual acuity, OCT, contrast sensitivity and electroretinogram after the treatment.

Effectiveness / Safety:

We can observe that with the PaScaL System there is a trend towards a less loss of letters (ETDRS) and towards stabilization of macular edema and less electroretinographic damage, which may result in a lesser decrease of transitory or permanent visual acuity after panretinal photocoagulation in patients with diabetic retinopathy.
