Pars Plana Vitrectomy Alone for the Management of Rhegmatogenous RD: The Importance of Using a Chandelier Illumination

SYNOPSIS

This video describes the main advantages of using a 25-gauge sutureless xenon chandelier light during Pars Plana Vitrectomy for the surgical repair of rhegma-togenous retinal detachment: Peripheral scleral depression by the surgeon, improved fundus view during the surgical procedure and identification of peripheral vitreous with triamcinolone suspension. A description of how the use of a Chandelier Illumination improves the identification of a retinal break with the Schlieren streaks is done.
