Advantages:

To enhance visibility during vitrectomy in patients with small pupil.

Methods:

Malyugin ring has been widely used in anterior segment surgery to assist small pupil surgery. We have been using Malyugin expander in vitrectomies since 2008 and we present use of Malyugin ring in 3 patients with small pupil and luxated or subluxated lens or PC IOL in the vitreous cavity where combined anterior/posterior approach was chosen.

Effectiveness / Safety:

In all patients the visibility of the posterior segment improved which results in reducing surgical time and increase of surgical ergonomics. No complication was observed.
