Last Chance for Treatment of Hypotony: Anterior Encircling Scleral Band

Hypotony is usually a consequence of ciliary body trauma, ciliary detachment, ciliary membranes secondary to PVR or endophthalmitis or multible VRS. Here we present 2 cases of hypotonia secondary to endopthalmitis related thick ciliary membranes. They have been operated multible times with the attempts for ciliary membrane peeling without any success. Finally an ercircling band fixed anteriorly just behind the rectus muscle insertion area was placed in both cases with a minimal indentation which resulted in an increase in IOP of both eyes preventing p hytisis bulbi. Take home message: Anteriorly placed encircling band can be a solution for hypotonia in selected cases.
