ABSTRACT

Purpose:

The aim is to show the applications of a modified technique: Cannula-Controlled Drainage, for external subretinal fluid (SRF) drainage in cases of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and exudative retinal detachment and choroidal drainage in cases of serious choroidal detachment.

Methods:

Cannula-Controlled Drainage is a new procedure utilizing 26G intravenous cannula to puncture the scleral by the metallic part and drainage by the cannula part.

Result:

Cannula-Controlled Drainage is a simple technique for external choroidal and subretinal fluid drainage. In this video will show it in action for three indications RRD , Coats disease and serous choroirdal detachment.

Conclusion:

It is a simplified technique for a feared procedure; SRF drainage. It may make the drainage safer utilizing the cannula instead of the needles.
