SYNOPSIS

PP extraction of a lens dropped into the vitreous chamber (vc) may be challenging expecially when dealing with hard nuclei. We developed a simple and safe tech-nique without instilling expensive and time-consuming PFCL, using an Alcon fiberlight that “impale” the dropped nucleus, keeping it in a safe area the middle of vc, avoid-ing dispersion of fragments and risk of retinal damages. This technique allows to emulsify the lens slowly, safely and easily, like eating an ice-cream.
