First Surgical Option for Increased Scleral Thickness

Two patients with increased scleral thickness were successfully treated for their retinal detachment with external scleral flap windows technique. No posterior vitrectomy approach was needed. Uveal effusion and benign lymphoid hyperplasia were settled down by pathological anatomy. Scleral flap is an easy technique and well controlled surgical procedure. It should be considered as the first approach in pathologies with increase in scleral thickness.
