DME Progression After Cataract Surgery: An Underestimated But Very Frequent Complication


ABSTRACT

DME can develop or worsen after cataract surgery in diabetic eyes, even in the absence of mild or advanced retinopathy, and in up to 56% of cases. Surgeons must be aware of this dramatic complication, that can easily and permanently vanish the potential benefit of surgery.
