The precise aspirating flow control of recent vitrectomy machines and the reduction of the vitreotome port allow for a selective grasping and cutting of preretinal proliferations. This technique reduces the need for iterative exits through the sclerotomies and thus the risk of vitreous incarceration. It also reduces the need for multiple and expensive forceps and scissors.


To present with demonstrative videos the interest of using the vitreotome with flow control for dissecting neovascular membranes in proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Effectiveness / Safety:

This technique appears to be very simple, safe and effective.
