ABSTRACT

Purpose:

To report surgical experience with vitrectomy for macular holes associated with diabetic maculopathy.

Methods:

In tis case series different approaches were used for management of macular holes complicating diabetic retinopathy, including just ILM peeling, ILM peeling with hole edges massage, or inverted flap ILM peeling.

Results:

There was varying functional results probably unrelated to the technique used. However anatomical success was seen in all cases regardless of the technique used.

Conclusion:

Macular holes complicating diabetic retinopathy shows a very high success rate of closure regardless of the surgical technique used for management.
