Advantages:

Show the combined use of cosmetic scleral-fixed cosmetic IOL, iris surgery and endoscopy in the treatment of post-traumatic aphakia and iris injury.

Methods:

Several cases of severe ocular trauma with aphakia and iris damage are presented. The cosmetic IOL is implanted, and if possible iris reconstruction is performed. The 20 gauge endoscopy, inserted via limbus or via pars plana, helps to visualize and to check the correct positioning of the suture and of the haptics of the IOL.

Effectiveness / Safety:

In some case it is possible to restore a complete pupil after a meticulous step-by-step iris surgery. The importance to restore the iris diaphragm and the pupil: for aesthetic reasons (young patients), to avoid glare, to separate the anterior segment from the posterior (in case of long-term intraocular tamponade).
