Correlation Between Subfoveal Chroidal Thickness and Stage of Diabetic Retinopathy Jee Taek Kim

Advantages:

This study demonstrates differences in choroidal thickness according to DMR stage and DME type.

Methods:

Medical records of patients who were diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy between March and October 2011 were reviewed, retrospectively. Choroidal thickness was measured using enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography.

Effectiveness / Safety:

Mean choroidal thickness of PDR group was significantly thinner than that of severe NPDR group. The eyes with DME had thinner choroidal thickness. But the choroid was thicker in eyes with subretinal fluid type-DME than the other type DME.

Take home message:

Eyes with PDR and DME have thinner choroid.
