Purpose:

To evaluate combined treatment of Anti-VEGF & subtenon corticosteroids for recurrent macular edema (ME) associated to choroidal neovascularization (CNV) due to age related macular degeneration (AMD).

Material & Methods:

Cases of CNV in AMD were included in this retrospective study. All types of CNV could be included (classic, minimally classic, occult, PEDs)

Results:

This combined therapy seemed to decrease ME recurrence. Patients with chronic ME and no stabilization with Anti-VEGF alone had better results. Some cases remained unclear, with good or poor results in similar CNV for different patients.

Conclusion:

Using combined treatment in CNV for AMD should be evaluated. It could reduce cost of treatment, and sometimes stop nightmare of multiple intravitreal injections for patients. It shows that our clinical comprehension for CNV is imperfect and research must go on.
