Retinal hemangioblastoma can attain large size, especially in perinatal period. Management includes repeated argon laser photocoagulation, cryotherapy. Brachytherapy is an effective technique in management with minimal complications.


A series of 3 consecutive patients with large retinal angiomas with predominant fibrosis in one case managed by brachytherapy.

Effectiveness / Safety:

Effective reduction in tumor size over follow up period without using other modalities of treatment. Apex dose was limited to 25 Gy with no radiation complications.

Take home message:

Brachytherapy is a forgotten tool in management of large retinal angiomatosis.
