A Case of Endophthalmitis When Vitrectomy is Required

ABSTRACT

87 old lady presented to the eye causality with painful red eye with loss of vision in her only eye. She had a past history of penetrating keratoplasty in that eye & previous history of angle closure glaucoma. She was treated at the beginning as graft rejection. Then she developed Corneal ulcer for which she had corneal scrape which confirmed later she had pseudomonas infection. She was referred to us with visual acuity of perception of light on that side. The corneal abscess was covering most of her corneal graft. With the help of the cornea team she underwent excision of her infected graft, removal of her IOL & vitrectomy. A new corneal graft was sutured. The lady slowly recovered however her vision never improved better than hand movement.
